When this table was produced, industry was booming in America and men were home from war looking to take their jobs back from the women who held their places. These telephone tables were often used by women to keep them occupied at home and comfortable while gossiping away on the phone all day. This particular table was passed down through generations where it was often used as a time-out chair. Because it is so scratched and water-stained on some surfaces, I have been considering reupholstering the seat (or fixing the upholstery) and Painting it much like the piece pictured below the table. I just find it hard to compromise the integrity of a nice piece of vintage or antique furniture by changing it. It is hard to tell if it would yield a better return in its original

state or updated.
