Mail Catcher

This mail catcher was a solution to a problem inspired by my cats. They used to bat the mail under the couch or end-table when it would fly through the slot but my door was too close to a wall for a typical mail basket so I had to make one that would collapse against the wall when the door opened. These antique-looking upholstery tacks can be found at Home Depot and the leather was from a large, men's coat at the thrift store. What I would do differently nest time is use flat, dark nails or a stain marker on the screw heads and I would better sections of leather because the lining stickers are not easily removed from old leather. The flap was added later to keep the cold outside and it is filled with about 12 pennies to weigh it down.
